What is the Canaries Community Fund?

The Canaries Community Fund is the charitable arm of the Sioux Falls Canaries, created to expand the organization’s impact beyond baseball and invest directly into the future of local communities. Founded in 2021 by owners Brian Slipka and Anthony Albanese in partnership with the True North Family Foundation, the fund exists to support education, community engagement, and character-building opportunities for youth across Sioux Falls and the surrounding region.

Community Through Action

The Sioux Falls Canaries are committed to making a lasting impact beyond the baseball field. Through year-round volunteer efforts, community partnerships, and charitable initiatives, the organization works to strengthen Sioux Falls and communities across South Dakota. Players, coaches, and staff engage with local nonprofits, schools, youth programs, and civic events — building meaningful relationships and showing up where support is needed most.

Investing in Local Causes with Purpose

The Canaries Community Fund supports programs and organizations that are making a direct impact in the lives of young people and families throughout the community. Areas of focus include:

  • Youth education and mentorship programs

  • Character-building and leadership opportunities

  • Sports and extracurricular scholarships for underserved youth

  • Community engagement initiatives

  • Health and wellness programs

  • Family and community support services

  • The goal of the Community Fund is not simply to donate resources, but to create lasting partnerships that strengthen the Sioux Falls community and open doors for the next generation.
